I think we can all agree, there’s just nothing like Mom’s home cookin’. It just tastes better, doesn’t it? For that reason I’ve asked my Mom to submit some of her favorite recipes for me to share with y’all each Monday. Let’s get cooking in the kitchen with Mom!
It’s almost 2015 folks! Can you believe that? It seems like 2014 just flew by. If you plan on celebrating big this New Years and are cooking dinner for a crowd, a really easy dish to serve up is a classic wedge salad. Lettuce, tomatoes, bacon and blue cheese dressing – bam! You’re done. Easy, right? 🙂
The only thing you’ll actually want to make is the dressing – and trust me, once you make this Homemade Blue Cheese dressing you won’t be buying store bought anymore. This one is packed full of flavor, is creamy and smooth and lacks the gross thickness that plagues too many store bought versions. This is my absolute favorite dressing – I hope you love it as much as I do!
- 2 ½ ounces blue cheese, crumbled (2/3 cup)
- 3 tbsp. milk
- 2 ½ tsp. white wine vinegar
- 3 tbsp. sour cream
- 3 tbsp. mayonnaise
- ¼ tsp. sugar
- ⅛ tsp. garlic powder
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Mash the blue cheese, milk and white wine vinegar together with fork well.
- Stir in the sour cream, mayonnaise, sugar and garlic powder.
- Add salt and pepper to taste.
- Dressing can be refrigerated up to one week.
- * I find it tastes even better the next day, so you may want to make it the day before you plan on using it.
