When it comes to staple brands in our house, Kraft is a biggie. Not only do they make the food and drinks that we love, but you can also score great deals with their awesome money saving coupons – and doesn’t that make everything taste just a little bit better? I sure think so! So when the latest round of printable Kraft coupons popped up, I knew I needed to stock up on on some of our favorites, especially Kraft cheese slices. We use these to make everything from omelettes to homemade mac n’ cheese, grilled cheese and more, so having these on hand is a must.
Before I headed to Walmart, I printed out savings on my favorite Kraft products:
- $0.50 off any TWO (2) KRAFT Singles
- $0.50 off any 2 KRAFT Natural Shredded Cheese
- $0.75 off 2 KRAFT or POLLY-O String Cheese
- $1.00 off any TWO (2) KRAFT Barbecue Sauce
…and there were many, many more. In fact, there are so many awesome Kraft coupons right now that when I was all done printing I had over 10 pages of coupons to cut out. Good thing I have the kiddos to help clip all those!
My next stop was Walmart, where I knew I would find the best variety and selection of the products I was looking for. Since Father’s Day was fast upon us, I thought a family dinner in honor of Coach D would be most appropriate. I quickly settled on cooking Grilled Cheese Burgers, one of his all-time favorite recipes of mine. These deliciousness of these burgers is totally made by the kind of cheese you select, and I never stray from Kraft American Cheese Slices. They’re the perfect consistency of melty, gooey cheesiness which envelops the hamburger patty in pocket of sharp, cheddar creaminess. It. Is. Divine. My mouth is watering just describing it! Plus it helps that they are so economically priced – the 24 count packages were $2.98 each, so just $2.73 each after our coupon!
As soon as we got home from the store I assembled all of our ingredients:
- 1 pound ground beef (the leaner the better!)
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 small yellow onion
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- Kraft American Cheese Slices
- Sandwich bread (we use country white!)
- Unsalted softened butter
Then it was time to get down and dirty in the kitchen. The first step in making these is getting the meat ready. You begin by gently beating the egg in a small bowl. Set that aside and then you grate your 1/2 onion. In a medium bowl, add your meat, your grated onion, egg, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Mix until thoroughly combined, then mold into thin patties – don’t be afraid to use your hands! We normally get 4-6 patties out of one pound of meat, it just depends on how large you want ’em.
In a skillet over medium-high heat, you cook the patties for 3-4 minutes on either side until well done. Then set them aside on paper towels to drain while you prepare the bread and cheese.
The next step is to take your unsalted, softened butter and slather it one one side of each piece of bread. On the unbuttered side place one slice cheese, one burger, followed by two more slices of cheese and another slice of buttered bread, butter side up. Then you get to grillin’!
In a skillet over medium-high heat cook your sandwiches until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on either side. Remove from skillet and you’re ready to enjoy your cheesy, creamy Kraft Grilled Cheese Burger!
Man, that looks good. Thanks for the coupons!
Looks delicious! Why did I have to read this right after a light dinner! You’re making me want to go back for round 2! Love the low cost of everything too!
Ohhh…that looks delicious! I think I need one of those for lunch!
