if you grow tomatoes from seed in norcal, it can be an adventure. You probably need a grow light and/or heating pad to get the seeds started.
I’ve grown a few cherry varieties by direct sowing, or have volunteered the following year where fruit dropped off the plant. The small yellow pear seems to be especially hardy.
