Remember the Schick Hydro deal I posted about here? Well, if your store was like mine, you were out of luck. The good news is that Target and Walmart are price matching the ad, which means tons of cheap razors!
I took my ad to Target, which didn’t have any of the Hydro 3’s, but I like the 5’s better anyways. The 5 price after ad match is $1.98 – so just $0.98 after the $1 off coupon from the 05/22/11 SS! Normal price for these razors is $6.49 and the refills are $10.99, which means my total savings rate was 87%! Awesome!
We took our ad to WalMart…and the moral of the story is LESSON LEARNED! – There was a cranky little cashier that acted like I was trying to steal money out her hand! – We came prepared with a copy of the ad, and she fought us on it (she didn’t read the fine print), and called a CSM over. The CSM (who also didn’t read the small print) told us that she’d have to check with HER boss, since they are normally $10ish, and we’re trying to get them for $1.98 (but she was polite) – The manager came over….and she was not trying to honor it either. She then made a comment under her breath about it being a sale for “poor people” and flippantly told her cashier to honor it. She then told us, she can wouldn’t be able to honor the coupons. I argued and pushed back a little, and she held her ground. She walked off without watching the transaction be completed, so the CSM said we could try the coupons as well. They worked. (Except for the $3.00 off which would have given us some overage (Coupons.com) – Since we had to fight to get what we already won, we figured we’d give up the $3. We’re going to save the coupon and try at a Walmart out of the area.
I’m so sorry you had that experience! I have not had good luck myself with coupons and Walmart, which is why I prefer Target. They just seem better educated about their own policy are always more than helpful. I definitely encourage you to send your feedback here: http://walmartstores.com/contactus/feedback.aspx#2 so that they know you had a poor experience an can hopefully speak with their employees. I also highly encourage you to print a copy of the Walmart coupon policy to bring with you next time since it seems that Walmart has been slow in educating their own employees. At least that way you’ll have some backup.
