I think we can all agree, there’s just nothing like Mom’s home cookin’. It just tastes better, doesn’t it? In a veiled attempt to get more home cooked meals I’ve asked my Mom to submit some of her favorite recipes for me to share with y’all each Monday. Let’s get cooking in the kitchen with Mom!
This week’s recipe is an easy family favorite – pizza! This is an awesome dough recipe that’s easy to throw together for a quick crowd pleaser. Please note, this recipe is doubled, so you may want to halve it if you’re making just one pizza.
Ingredients:
- 3 cup hot water
- 3 tsp. brown sugar
- 4 packages of yeast
- 8 cups of flour
- 2 tsp. salt
- 8 tbs. olive oil
Begin by dissolving the brown sugar and yeast in one cup of hot water. Set aside for 5 minutes.
Next, mix your flour and salt together. Make a well in your flour/salt mixture and add your olive oil and 2 cups hot water.
Then add in your yeast and sugar mixture.
Mix until dough forms.
Knead 8 to 10 minutes.
Place in a greased bowl and put in a warm place for 1 hour until doubled. I use my microwave for this part, just don’t turn it on! Once it has doubled, punch it back down and roll it in to your desired shape.
Place on an ungreased cookie sheet and top as desired.
Place in a 425 degree oven for about 15 minutes until the crust is golden brown. You’ll need to watch this part as the bottom browns sooner than the top does depending on what kind of pan you use.
And there you have it, super yummy, homemade pizza 🙂
Enjoy!
