Your Must-Have, Money-Saving Makeup Item: Eye Shadow Primer
I don’t want the topic of makeup to be the neglected stepchild of this blog. So makeup—specifically eye shadow—let me introduce you to your new best friend: eyelid primer. A good primer will bring out an eye shadow’s pigment so that you don’t have to use as much. In addition, it should prevent any creasing for a full day, even if your lids are oily. This prevents you from having to reapply your shadow to keep it looking fresh. If you wear eye shadow daily, like I do, it would behoove you to invest in a primer to minimize the amount you use. In addition, a primer will make your shadow much easier to blend, as it creates a smooths out any uneven skin texture on the lid.
I would recommend a primer with a bit of a nude pigment to it, so that whatever shadow you put on top of it will show up more rich and so that it conceals any redness, veins, or discoloration. Though the top primers I will list here are a bit pricey, remember that when you use one of the good ones, you can use cheaper eyeshadow (the primer will bring out color in shadows without a lot of pigmentation).
Apply a thin layer of the primer by lightly patting the product on the eyelid and all the way up to the brow bone. Afterward you can look forward to a more pigmented and long-lasting eye shadow result!
