I am proud to re-introduce everyone’s favorite beauty guru and Beauty on a Budget expert Jessica! Ms. Jessica has worked in the skin and beauty industry for 10+ years and is an awesome resource for all things beauty related. Her monthly contributions will give us all the lowdown on what brands and products can give us the best beauty boost without breaking our bank accounts. Without further ado, here is her take on one of her favorite budget beauty brands –
NYX Cosmetics.

NYX truly combines everything I love about makeup: low prices, strong pigments, and innovative products. It enables me to try different colors without taking financial risks. Take a look at nyxcosmetics.com and try not to become excited at the prospect of buying a pigmented ten-shadow palette for $11; or at the idea of buying cosmetic staples such as the very long-wear Studio Liquid Liner. Their black is intense and dries with a slight glossy finish. I’ve put this one through a full night of dancing and had no smudges or flaking—and you can ask Ashley—I dance hard!
Another awesome find is the Eyebrow Cake Powder, which can be purchased for a whopping $6! This is a comprehensive brow kit with two shades of brow powder, clear wax, a brow comb, and an angled brush (which can be used to apply shadow or liner along the lash line as well).
The Soft Matte Lip Stain has become a new favorite of mine. This $6 stain feels like velvet on the lips, and really lasts. As with their other products, the pigment is strong, so a little will produce a colorful result. It can also be worn as a primer under lipstick to provide staying power.
I sort of become giddy at the thought of glitter. The Candy Glitter Liner, which is part of our giveaway, produces a beautiful effect. At $4.50, this liquid glitter product adheres to the lid well and provides quite a bit of glitter per ounce. Try keeping a neutral upper lid and crease while placing the glitter along the bottom lash line for a more subtle, but still glamorous addition to your look. And if you want to go for a showgirl look, which is how I like to do my makeup, put some on top of a lipstick or gloss!
NYX’s extensive false lash collection is one of their most exciting features. They range from natural to dramatic and everywhere in between, and each pair comes with lash glue, to top it off. The quality is so great that I’ll bet you’ll have trouble telling the difference between MAC lashes and NYX ones:
The major difference, as you can see, is not the quality at all: it’s the price! NYX charges $4.50, while MAC charges $14.00. (NYX’s product is on the left)
Want a multitasking product for on-the-go use? The Rouge Cream Blush can be applied with fingertips to blend color onto cheeks as well as lips. Makeupalley.com users rated the color “Glow” five out of five lippies (lipsticks, which substitute for stars in its rating system). One Makeupalley member remarked, “The pigmentation is incredible and the blush itself blends well and lasts all day for me.” Others echoed her sentiment. Want it? To summarize her main points (and you’ll be able to see this in the video as well), the glosses have great pigmentation (go to the 2:53 mark for a swatch), feel smooth and moist, and are a great value at $8 for .24 ounces. (the price went up $.50 since she reviewed this product). Compare that to MAC’s Cremesheen glass at 0.09 ounces for $18.50! It’s also convenient to carry.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE NYX cosmetics. The lose pigment shadows are some of my favorites. honestly comparable to MAC for about half the price. I hope i win!
