I think we can all agree, there’s just nothing like Mom’s home cookin’. It just tastes better, doesn’t it? For that reason I’ve asked my Mom to submit some of her favorite recipes for me to share with y’all each Monday. Let’s get cooking in the kitchen with Mom!
It’s a new year! And that means it’s time for new year’s resolutions. One of my resolutions this year is to be healthier – that means exercising more and making a more concerted effort to eat a more balance diet. But that can be hard when you’re a busy lady like myself! So one great solution are these awesome Immune Boost Detox Shakes that my Mom has been whipping up. They’re packed full of vitamins and minerals, and contain a bunch of your daily servings of fruits and veggies – and my favorite part, they taste great! It’s really up to you which fruits you add, but I would suggest choosing ones strong in flavor. Otherwise it will have no taste. Also, don’t be afraid of the greens – they really don’t add much flavor, but they sure do add a ton of the healthy good stuff. 😉
Ingredients:
- 1 – 2 handfuls rinsed spring greens
- ½ banana
- 1 peeled orange
- 1 cup pineapple chunks (Costco sells big bags of frozen pineapple chunks, great for these kinds of drinks and smoothies, too – I throw them in still frozen)
- 1 handful fresh blueberries (or frozen if fresh are not available)
- Sparkling water to taste (I use about ½ cup)
Add all of these greens and fruit into your blender (I use a Nutri Bullet) and then fill with sparkling water to taste. Blend until smooth and then enjoy!
