I think we can all agree, there’s just nothing like Mom’s home cookin’. It just tastes better, doesn’t it? For that reason I’ve asked my Mom to submit some of her favorite recipes for me to share with y’all each Monday. Let’s get cooking in the kitchen with Mom!
I can’t believe it’s almost July! This month has really flown by fast 🙂 This Friday is Fourth of July and to celebrate we always have lots of good food, fireworks and family. Because it can be a bit hectic trying balance all the food and family, we like to keep desserts simple. One of my very favorite items to serve are these Red, White & Blue Berry Kabobs. Not only are they a big hit with the kids AND the adults, they’re easy to eat while mingling making them the perfect party food.
- 1 lb Large Strawberries (need to be big enough for star cookie cutter)
- 1 pint Blueberries
- 1 bag Mini Marshmallows
- 10 Skewers
- Butter to grease skewers
- 1½" Star Cookie Cutter
- Find 10 largest strawberries, remove stem and cut in half
- Using star cookie cutter make 20 strawberry stars
- Lightly grease skewer with butter up to the point where you want marshmallows to start
- Push 2 marshmallows down to that point
- Push 2 blue berries down to marshmallows
- Push 2 marshmallows down to the blueberries
- Push 1 star down to the marshmallows
- Push 2 marshmallows down to the star
- Push 2 blue berries down to marshmallows
- Push 2 marshmallows down to the blueberries
- Push 1 star just onto the tip and align other items up to bring together
- Repeat for other 10 skewers
