A couple weeks ago I told you about The Savings Pledge, a joint effort of myself and my fellow Savings.com Deal Pro’s to help you save 1 BILLION dollars! Whether you’re saving for a house or a handbag, we want you to pledge that not only will you save your hard earned dollars, but that you’ll be smart with it too!
If you missed out on that post, take a look at it here and take The Pledge yourself here. As it is always best to lead by example, I thought I’d give y’all a little update on how I’m doing:
Previously I mentioned that I’ll be heading to Las Vegas this weekend. Not only is traveling always a little hard on the wallet, but it’s especially hard when you’re traveling to Las Vegas! I swear the money just leaps out of your pockets and into those slot machines, right? In order to prepare and try and avoid financial flailing, I decided I would save $100 a week previous to my trip. In the past two weeks I have managed to save $446.95 through couponing – woo hoo! I more than doubled my goal! That will certainly go a long way towards cushioning my wallet from the Sin City blows! Not only did I save, I am now stocked up on razors, shampoo, conditioner, Diet Pepsi, Christmas toys for my nieces and nephew, and more!
There are also a few other money saving steps I’ve also taken to try and get discount on activities I know we’ll be doing:
- Purchase restaurant vouchers at Restaurant.com
- Keep track of Groupon and Living Social deals for the area we’ll be visiting
- Ask the concierge for coupons and discount codes – often times they have a ton to give out just sitting behind the desk!
When I return I will be setting a new, more long term goal and we’ll look at ways to make saving money easier and more efficient.
And remember, Pledge participants will get certain perks at Savings Pledge milestones, and it looks like they’re almost to their first one: $5,000,000 in savings! So hurry and make your pledge to join in on the money saving fun!
