Smart & Final has opened a new location in Elk Grove! It is located at 8787 Elk Grove Boulevard in Elk Grove (95624) and last week I was lucky enough to attend their preview night. We haven’t had the good fortune shop at a Smart & Final just yet, so this sneak peek was a real treat.
While Smart & Final is a warehouse club, they have no fee and they certainly don’t feel like your typical warehouse store. I found that while they carried a great variety of warehouse size products, they also had a great selection of your normal grocery sized items which means they really are a one stop shop, no matter if you’re shopping for the long term or just doing your weekly grocery run. While I was there I found a bunch of awesome deals and really enjoyed my time perusing the store – it was clean, well-stocked and the staff was super friendly!
My first stop in my Smart & Final Grand Opening tour was the produce department! A produce department can tell you a lot about how a store is run, and I am happy to report this store is in good hands. Not only did I find everything fully stocked, I found a great variety of fruits & vegetables and some seriously good deals.
Here’s one deal I couldn’t wait to score – ten pounds of potatoes for just $0.99! That is one heck of a price for potatoes, which is just the kind of deal you’re prone to find at Smart & Final 😉
Next I wandered into their refrigerated and dairy section. First thing I noticed? The aisles are nice and roomy, so there’s plenty of room for everyone to maneuver their carts and still get a good look at the awesome variety they had. And then I found Pog! For those of you unfamiliar with this nectar of the gods, I’ve only ever found it in Hawaii. It’s delicious and finding it at Smart & Final is just yet another reason to plan my weekly shopping trips there 😉
Next I was on to the Cheese & Deli Meat section, and here I found everything nicely displayed, with clear readable sales tags. I also found my second must score deal – two pounds of First Street cheese on sale for just $4.99! That’s an amazing price for cheese, so I gladly added that deal to my shopping list for the week.
Next I was on to the meat department, which to me is another area where you can really tell the quality of a store. I found all of it to be well organized, well stocked and all of the meat looked fresh! I also love that they proudly display their 100% quality guarantee, which means you can shop with the confidence and knowledge that you’re getting the best at Smart & Final.
One of my last stops when I grocery shop is always the Frozen Foods section. I was delighted to find some more killer deals here – like 3 pounds of First Street Chicken Tenders for just a little over $10 and First Street Potato products for just under $3 (these were ginormous bags of potatoes!). I also got to try some of their First Street ice cream, and oh my! So delicious – the Moose Tracks was my favorite 😉
I was also REALLY stoked to see they had a healthy selection of frozen Gluten Free products at some really excellent prices. The Amy’s Gluten Free burritos pictured above are normally $4 – $5 at other stores, but here you can snag them for just $2.79, every day! That’s a wonderful price!
Speaking of Gluten Free, another wonderful aspect of shopping at Smart & Final? They make finding their organic, gluten free and all natural foods super easy to find. Simply look for the Good & Well banners and you’ll find them all grouped together, organized and well stocked for all of your healthy eating needs.
In addition to opening new stores, Smart & Final has announced the launch of a new branding campaign which will place the ampersand (“&”) – already in the 144-year old company’s name – front and center to showcase the company’s relationship with both its customers and the communities it serves. While shopping their new Elk Grove location, I truly felt Smart & Final’s focus was on meeting their customers’ needs by serving up both quality and quantity, and all for some seriously great prices.
